Christian community appeals for MBS restart

Rawalpindi : The Christian families are set to celebrate Christmas here on Wednesday (today).

The Christian community has appealed local administration to re-start Metro Bus Service (MBS) on special day because bus service once again remained suspended due to its construction work on Tuesday.

The Christian families of Rawalpindi and Islamabad will celebrate Christmas with their participation in special night vigil services in the churches on Tuesday.

The Christmas services would be held in all Catholic and Protestant churches where priests would deliver sermons. The Christian community has arranged Christmas trees in their homes where children enjoying to see them and anxiously waiting for Christmas to open gifts. Christmas cakes were also cut at different places included Metropolitan Corporation Rawalpindi (MCR), Dhoke Syedan, Christian Colony and Jhawra by the Muslims to show solidarity and brotherhood with Christian community.

Big gatherings of Christian community would be held at the Cathedral Church, Lalkurti; Protestant Church at Mall Road; Saint Anthony Church in Satellite Town; Saint Joseph’s Cathedral Church in Dhoke Syedan, Cathedral Church Chakra, Cathedral Church Hanif Colony and Saint Mary’s Church in Sher Zaman Colony. The Christians would start their special prayers in Cathedral Churches at about 12:00 midnight, while in Protestant Churches at about 11:00p.m. The Santa Claus would be the most enchanting aspect and major attraction for children on the occasion.

Special programs will be held in churches across the country to celebrate the festival. Residential colonies of Christian community have been decorated with twinkling lights and stars. Wreaths were hung outside stores buzzing with last-minute shopping on Christmas event.

Almost all churches have been decorated with colourful lights and illuminated with Christmas trees. The government has made elaborative security arrangements to avert any untoward incident on this occasion.
