Technical education in non-formal schools launched

LAHORE : The launching ceremony of Elementary and Middle Tech Education in non-formal schools of Punjab was held at the Department of Literacy & Non-Formal Basic Education here on Tuesday.

Speaking at the ceremony, Secretary Literacy Syed Haider Iqbal and DG Literacy Dr Khurram Shahzad said that with the support of JICA, the syllabus of technical education had been prepared in a very short time.

Secretary Literacy said that tablets and smartphones are being provided to non-formal schools for the use of the literacy app. He said that adult literacy was a big challenge which was being overcome.

PU awards PhD degrees

Punjab University has awarded PhD degrees to 10 of its scholars. According to details, Sarwat Riaz has been awarded PhD degree in the subject of Arabic, Iffat Lal Khan in the subject of Arabic, Haider Raza in Arabic, Shumaila Miraj in the subject of Pharmacy (Pharmaceutics), Maria Abdullah Butt in the subject of Environmental Sciences, Nooria Arooj in the subject of Physics, Usman Javed in the subject of Islamic Studies, M Abdul Jabar Adnan in the subject of Sports Sciences & Physical Education, Ma Chunying in the subject of History and Xue Chennan in the subject of History.
