Earlier this week, there were reports of the parliamentary secretary for the cabinet division urging people to use the internet less and ‘for important matters only’. It is concerning that, instead of addressing the root cause of our internet issues, there are suggestions to limit internet use only to essential activities. The internet is not merely a tool for important tasks; it is meant for a wide range of purposes, including entertainment, education, communication, and much more. Limiting its use could hinder the growth of sectors that rely on uninterrupted access.
