PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary Information Sheikh Waqas Akram on Monday said that the party would explore options to provide legal assistance to the workers, who were awarded sentences by the military courts.

Speaking to media here, he said that that military trials of civilians violated international law and the PTI would pursue legal options. He pledged to thwart any conspiracy aimed at destroying the country’s economy.

Akram questioned the delay in the decision of the Al-Qadir Trust case, stating, “Why has the verdict been postponed? We do not understand where this decision is being written. It’s a case of acquittal, and there is nothing substantial in it.” He referred to the case as a “worst example of political revenge,” claiming that it was being used as a political tool to target PTI leader Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi.

He believed that the Al-Qadir Trust case of 190 million pounds against Imran Khan and his wife was politically motivated. He said the government was attempting to eliminate political opponents even at the cost of disregarding international laws.

Akram asked the government and its ministers to show respect for the martyrs and their families, and demanded an end to the restrictions preventing PTI leaders from meeting their party leader, Imran Khan.

He said that the PTI’s negotiating committee was essential for any potential discussions, stating that the committee held the mandate to engage in talks. Akram said that the number of martyrs had risen from 12 to 13, urging the government to act responsibly and avoid further escalation.
