The Sohrab Goth police on Monday arrested a woman, her father and her brother on the charge of her husband’s murder.
According to police, the suspect first fed her husband something intoxicating substance and then strangled him to death. She tried to stage the incident as a suicide, but the postmortem report solved the murder mystery.
The Sohrab Goth police took the suspects, Noor Sameena, her father Nadeem, and her brother Yameen, into custody and registered a case under the sections 302/34 based on the complaint filed by the victim’s brother.
On Sunday, December 22, police received the information about a body in Scheme 33, Jamali Goth. A police team reached the property and took the body into custody and moved it to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where the victim was identified as 27-year-old Shahid Ali, son of Qasim.
The police collected evidence from the crime scene and recorded Sameena’s statement, which had several inconsistencies. The suspect claimed that she was asleep and woke up in the morning to find her husband’s body hanging from the ceiling fan. She said she informed the victim’s brother immediately and with his help took the body down and placed it on a chair.
The victim’s brother informed the police about the body upon arrival. Police revealed that the post-mortem report indicated that the victim had been fed an intoxicating substance that rendered him unconscious, after which he was strangled to death.
Sameena confessed to the crime during interrogation admitting that she murdered her husband with the help of her father and brother. She disclosed thatshe had been asking her husband for a divorce for a long time, but he refused.
On the night of the incident, both she and her husband had an argument. Following a premeditated plan, she murdered him. The victim was an electrician and the father of two children. The suspects have been handed over to the investigation wing of the police for further investigations.
