CCPO orders curbing crimes against women, children

LAHORE:Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Bilal Siddique Kamyana Monday ordered strict measures against accused involved in financial scams and crimes against women and children.

Presiding over a meeting to review the performance of the Investigation Wing, the CCPO directed the investigation in charges to arrest proclaimed offenders (POs) and submit their challans without any delay.

He said stern departmental action will be taken if financial crime challans and records were not completed on time. The CCPO said elimination of crimes against women and children was a priority of the Punjab Chief Minister and he instructed field officers to strictly follow a zero-tolerance policy regarding crimes against vulnerable communities. SSP (Investigations Wing) Muhammad Naveed, divisional SPs, DSPs and other officers attended the meeting.

Suspect arrested; 40 litre toxic liquor seized

Karol Ghati Police arrested a suspect Iqbal alias Bali red-handed with a large cache of illegal liquor. The suspect was found in possession of 40 liters of toxic liquor. A case was registered at the Gujjarpura Police Station and further investigations have been handed over to the Investigation Wing.

Additionally, the Manhala Police team, acting on a tip-off, arrested drug dealer Hassan and recovered over one kilogram of heroin from his possession. In another incident, the Dolphin Squad foiled a robbery attempt near Gulshan Park involving a car-bound family. Upon receiving information, the officers pursued two motorcycle-riding robbers, arresting one suspect, Kashif, near Raza Block, while his accomplice managed to escape. A pistol, motorcycle, bullets, and a magazine were recovered from Kashif, who, during preliminary interrogation, confessed to involvement in multiple robberies.

Meanwhile, Faisal Town Police arrested a suspect Gulzar, who assaulted a shopkeeper. A few days ago, the suspects attempted to get free breakfast from the shopkeeper and, upon refusal, they assaulted him at gunpoint and issued threats. Police are searching for another suspect involved in the incident.
