Youth commits suicide after killing cousin, injuring friend

LAHORE:A young man shot and killed his cousin, injured a friend, and later took his own life in the lqbal Town area of Lahore on Sunday.

According to the police, the incident occurred when 23-year-old Muhammad bin Noshaab opened fire, fatally wounding his cousin Zain and seriously injuring their friend, Hamza. Following the attack, Noshaab turned the weapon on himself, ending his life.

Emergency responders transported the bodies to the hospital for post-mortem examinations, while the injured Hamza, who sustained a gunshot wound to the head, was rushed to a hospital for treatment. His condition remains critical. Preliminary investigations suggest that the incident might have been triggered by drug abuse. The police disclosed that the three young men were habitual drug users and often gathered for the substance abuse.

Suspected robber arrested

Dolphin Squad thwarted a robbery attempt on a family travelling by car near Gulshan Park and arrested one suspect, police officials said on Sunday. According to the Dolphin Squad spokesperson, a distress call on the police helpline 15 reported an armed robbery in progress in the Iqbal Town area. Responding, the team pursued two motorcycle-riding robbers and intercepted them at Raza Block. The squad apprehended one suspect, identified as Kashif, and recovered a pistol, bullets, a magazine, and the motorcycle used in the crime.

Man held in assault case

A shopkeeper in Faisal Town was assaulted by armed men after he refused to provide them with a free breakfast, police said on Sunday.

According to the Faisal Town police, the incident occurred early in the morning when the suspects arrived at a shop selling chickpeas for breakfast. Upon being asked to pay, the suspects resorted to physical violence and issued death threats at gunpoint. Acting on the evidence, police arrested one of the suspects, identified as Gulzar, who has a criminal record with three prior cases registered against him. The shopkeeper claimed that the same suspects had earlier taken breakfast worth Rs5,000 at gunpoint.
