PESHAWAR: The provincial government has taken steps to resolve boundary disputes in Peshawar Division, focusing on longstanding issues in areas such as Mattani, Mergatkhel and Regi Lalma.
Commissioner Peshawar Division Riaz Khan Mahsud has announced that all such disputes would be resolved amicably, to promote peace and harmony among communities. Speaking at a representative jirga of Mattani residents, Commissioner Riaz Mahsud emphasised the government’s commitment to addressing these disputes.
“Resolving these issues will not only ease tensions among communities but also improve the law and order situation across Peshawar Division,” he said. He added that a joint jirga involving both parties would be convened next week to finalise the agreement.
To ensure progress, the commissioner directed the deputy commissioners of Peshawar and Khyber district to engage with both parties and prepare preliminary recommendations ahead of the meeting. “I deeply appreciate the patience and cooperation shown by all parties and assure them of my personal efforts to resolve this matter,” he remarked.
The meeting was attended by MNA Shandana Gulzar and MNA Iqbal Afridi, MPA Abdul Ghani Afridi, deputy commissioner Peshawar and Deputy Commissioner Khyber. The delegation expressed satisfaction with the assurances provided by Commissioner Riaz Mahsud and praised the personal efforts of the officials involved. They also pledged their full cooperation in reaching a sustainable resolution.
