ISLAMABAD: As Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf readies finally for talks with the government, the founder of the party Imran Khan has tasked Khyber Pakhtunkhwa CM Ali Amin Gandapur to push for unity among the opposition parties.
According to the party sources, the party founder chairman wants to see his committee going into parleys with the government’s committee from a point of ‘reasonable strength’.
As per his strategy, Gandapur will be meeting the leadership of Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA), including Pir Pagara and Zulfiqar Mirza as well as Jamaat-e-Islami (JI).
“Gandapur will take leadership of these political forces into confidence on the proposed negotiations with the government committee and weigh other political options from the platform of opposition,” sources pointed out.
Moreover, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government spokesman Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif has also been directed to interact with the opposition parties and he has already made telephonic contacts with some of them.
Sources said that it was quite likely that a meeting of opposition parties might be held in Peshawar within a few days. Gandapur had already met a delegation of GDA leaders a couple of days back.
