PESHAWAR: A meeting of the opposition parties is expected this week at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister’s House, sources told Geo News on Sunday.
It was leant that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan had asked Adviser to Chief Minister on Information Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif to expedite talks with the opposition parties, sources said, adding Barrister Saif had contacted several politicians by telephone.
The sources said the chief minister was expected to meet Grand Democratic Alliance leaders Pir Sibghatullah Shah Rashdi and Zulfiqar Mirza this week.
Other leaders of the political parties, including Jamaat-e-Islami and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam will also be taken into confidence as well.
Meanwhile, PTI Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram told this correspondent by telephone that his party had accepted the invitation for a meeting from National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq.
“Our delegation will meet him tomorrow,” he said and added that the PTI founder would be informed about the progress of talks.
Sheikh Waqas Akram said he hoped the government team would show seriousness about the talks slated for Monday.
When asked about the planned civil disobedience movement, Sheikh Waqas Akram said only Imran Khan would decide on postponing or cancelling the drive. “The PTI founder will determine the future strategy,” he added.
