PESHAWAR: The Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Khyber district chapter on Sunday staged a protest demonstration against the military operation in Tirah valley of Khyber district.
Led by party leaders, including Shah Faisal Afridi, Murad Hussain, Ziaul Haq and others, the protesters, holding banners and placards inscribed with slogans denouncing the military operation, gathered outside the Peshawar Press Club.
The speakers on the occasion alleged that indiscriminate firing had turned civilian settlements into virtual conflict zones, leaving residents in a state of fear and distress. They criticised the government’s approach, asserting that such actions were worsening the situation rather than restoring peace.
“The people of Tirah valley are suffering immensely. Their lives and livelihoods are at stake and they deserve to be treated with dignity not as collateral damage in a military operation,” said Shah Faisal Afridi.
The protestors urged the government to prioritize dialogue and development over military measures to address the issue of worsening law and order situation and terrorism. They also called for immediate relief and rehabilitation efforts for the affected families.
