Poor arrangements for Kurram IDPs

KOHAT: Commissioner Kohat division has suspended five officers for negligence during his visit to the camp of the displaced persons from Kurram district.

Commissioner Syed Motasim Billah Shah, on the directives of the chief minister, made a detailed visit to Thall tehsil of Hangu district, adjacent to Kurram district on Sunday, where he received the patients, including women and children, who were brought by helicopter from Kurram district. They were dispatched to Peshawar under police security. Officers of the Thall Scouts were also present on the occasion.

The commissioner recommended suspension of five officers, including additional assistant commissioner Thall, tehsildar and TOI of TMA for their absence and negligence and recommended strict disciplinary action against them.

Similarly, during a surprise visit to the camp set up for the victims of Kurram district, two female teachers who were previously appointed for the education of the affected children were immediately suspended due to the complaint of parents and children and the use of foul language.

The commissioner also apprised himself of the problems of the victims and directed the authorities concerned to make improvements in the arrangements. He also directed to provide warm clothes, sweaters and shoes to the affected children to protect them from severe cold, and arrange more medicines required for the victims within 24 hours.

The official paid glowing tributes to the deputy commissioner Hangu, officers of Thall Scouts and Police for the overall best arrangements made on the road and Helipad for the safety of the victims and thanked them.
