LAHORE : Panic gripped residents of the Shalimar Housing Scheme in Harbanspura when a tiger escaped from a private enclosure and roamed the streets, roaring and creating chaos.
According to officials, the tiger belonged to a local resident, identified as Ali Adnan, who had been keeping the wild animal at his farmhouse. The escape led to widespread fear among residents, many of whom called the police emergency helpline, 15, to report the incident. The situation escalated when the tiger began moving towards residential areas. Responding to the threat, security guards of the housing scheme opened fire on the animal, killing it on the spot.
The police and Punjab Wildlife Department arrived at the scene shortly after to investigate the incident. Further investigation is underway to determine how the tiger was kept and whether the owner had prior permission or licence.
