The Department of Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education (SHC&ME) Punjab Secretary Azmat Mahmood has said that the department is committed to ensuring safe treatment and a clean environment for patients coming to government hospitals across the province.
The health secretary said that the excellent monitoring and inspection of government hospitals by the Department of Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education has started showing very positive results. He said that the stock of infectious waste in government hospitals in Punjab has reduced from about 62,000 kg to 14,000 kg in just one and a half months and the heads of the hospitals concerned have been directed and given the task to eliminate the remaining 14,000 kg of infectious waste stock in the next fortnight.
The health secretary further informed that the Department of Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education has activated completely inactive incinerators in various government teaching hospitals and increased the capacity of existing incinerators as per the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
