Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan Chairman Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui has said all the activists and followers of the party will celebrate Mohajir Culture Day with full vigour on December 24 in pursuance of the decision of Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori to this effect.

Speaking at a press conference at a park adjacent to the MQM’s Bahadurabad headquarters on Saturday, he told media persons that Pakistan was like a beautiful bouquet comprising different cultural entities. He said people belonging to every ethnic community had played their due part in the progress and development of Pakistan.

Siddiuqi said the founders of Pakistan and the next generations had laid down their lives for the cause of founding a separate homeland for the Muslims of the Indian subcontinent and later strengthening their native country.

He informed media persons that Tessori had become the first-ever governor in Sindh who officially celebrated Sindhi Culture Day at the Governor House.

Dr Siddiqui, who is also a federal education minister, said the governor had announced Mohajir Culture Day would be observed on December 24 and invited the MQM- to participate in the celebrations. He said the Governor House would celebrate the culture of every community living in the region.

Dr Siddiqui said the Karachiites were open-hearted people known for their hospitality. “We will try that the celebration of Mohajir culture will represent different cultures followed by different communities in Pakistan,” he said. “You should recognize us as we will reciprocate this gesture,” the MQM chairman said while informing the media persons about his party ‘s motto.

Answering a question, Siddiqui said the local government system had completely failed in Karachi. “The local councils, which came into existence as a result of our boycott, have failed to deliver,” he said while referring to the MQM’s decision to stay away from the last local government polls in Karachi and Hyderabad.
