Police have registered a case against unidentified suspects for killing a man who was about to get married as he resisted snatching of his new motorcycle in the Pirabad area of Orangi Town.

The number of people killed for offering resistance during robberies has risen to 106 this year, while over 500 individuals have been injured. Earlier on December 13 in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, robbers shot and killed a biker who was also a YouTuber in broad daylight. Despite the passage of time, police have so far failed to trace the killers involved in the tragic incident.

The recent incident in Orangi occurred on Friday night near the Banaras flyover within the limits of the Pirabad police station where the victim, who was later identified as 35-year-old Jamal Khan, resisted unidentified motorcyclists who intercepted him to snatch his new 125cc motorcycle.

After shooting the victim dead, the robbers abandoned their own motorcycle at the crime scene and escaped with the victim’s motorcycle.

The victim was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where the doctors pronounced him dead. Jamal’s family stated that he hailed from Swat and lived in Metroville Block 5 in Karachi where he sold peanuts and vegetables.

The family also revealed that Jamal was to be married in two weeks, and preparations for the wedding were under way. He was the youngest of five brothers.

Jamal left home with a friend to take a ride on his new 125 motorcycle. Near the Banaras Flyover, robbers attempted to snatch the bike. Upon resistance, they opened fire, killing him. Police said they had registered a case and investigations were under way.
