Ghani asks town chairmen to ensure timely completion of uplift works

Sindh Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani has directed the chairmen of all town municipal corporations in Karachi to speed up the pace of the ongoing development schemes in their jurisdictions to ensure their timely completion.

He issued this direction on Friday while holding a meeting with the chairmen of the town municipal corporations belonging to the Pakistan Peoples Party. The participants of the meeting briefed the minister about the development works so far completed and problems persisting in different towns of Karachi. Ghani told them that the government would never make any compromise on the development projects in any town of Karachi.

He mentioned the unequivocal and emphatic direction given by Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari that elected local government representatives should serve the masses in the best possible manner without any discrimination based on ethnicity, colour, or political affiliation.

The LG minister said the town chairmen should ensure expeditious completion of the development works by different civic agencies and public utilities. He said the streets and roads should also be reconstructed at the earliest after the completion of these works.

He said the problems being faced by residents of different towns should be resolved on a speedy basis. He said the elected local government representatives should come up to the expectations of the people. He said any elected representative failing to fulfil his obligation would be taken to task sternly. Karachi PPP General-Secretary and District South President Jawed Nagori also attended the meeting.
