PESHAWAR: The Peshawar Public School and College on Friday arranged the annual prize distribution and investiture ceremony for the excelling students.

Mayor of Peshawar Zubair Ali, a former student of the institution, chaired the function which was attended by students, teachers members and alumni.Speaking at the function, he said he felt proud to have studied at the prestigious institution which had produced talented students who were now serving the nations in different positions.

The mayor advised the students to focus on studies to take on the modern-day challenges, saying no success in any field was possible without the hi-tech education in today’s global era of tough competition, he stated.

“Peshawar Public School and College has been one of the top educational institutions in Peshawar imparting quality education to students from lower middle class hailing from backward areas of Balochistan, GB and merged tribal districts at affordable fees. Efforts will be made to help it reclaim its academic excellence and financial strength,” the mayor promised.

He announced solarization and renovation work on the campus, provision of sports facilities and guided study tours and training workshops for the students and teachers to improve its academic performance and overcome its financial crisis.

Presenting the annual report, Principal Prof Iftikhar Ahmad Khan said the institution had taken several steps to improve the situation through several academic and co-curricular activities including trips to the heritage sites and teacher’s training sessions.

Later, the mayor distributed commendation certificates and sashes to winning students for their outstanding performances in the co-curricular activities during the last year and decorated proctor board and literary societies.
