Employees want security upped at Islamia College University
PESHAWAR: The Joint Action Committee (JAC) of the employees of Islamia College University has expressed disappointment over the university administration’s reported inability to create a conducive learning environment and protect the officials of the university.
The committee held a meeting on Friday with Dr Dil Nawaz Khan in chair. The meeting set a deadline until January 3, 2025, asking the university administration to take steps to resolve the security and disciplinary issues in the university or else they will devise a plan of action for launching a protest.
Representatives of the Academic Staff Association, Teachers Association of Islamia Collegiate School, and Class III and Class IV Associations attended the meeting.The meeting discussed the deteriorating security situation on campus and the alleged negligence of the university administration.
The meeting condemned the recent incidents in which some students ransacked the offices of Ali Hoti, Director of Sports, and Administrative Officer Dr Shabbir.The committee criticized the administration and police for failing to take any disciplinary or legal action against the accused students.
The committee called for immediate decisive measures to address these violations and prevent further unrest.The meeting highlighted growing dissatisfaction with the administration’s lack of interest in maintaining campus security and its continued inaction against those responsible for repeated disruptions.Participants noted that the university’s failure to address these issues was undermining the academic environment and damaging the university’s reputation.
