Committee suggested to oversee Pesco recovery drive

PESHAWAR: Chairman of the Board of Directors of Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco), Himayat Ullah, met Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Secretary Nadeem Aslam Chaudhary to discuss the upcoming recovery campaign.

According to a press release, the meeting, which was attended by officials from both sides, centered on strategies, challenges, and collaborative efforts to enhance the recovery process for outstanding electricity dues.

Himayatullah provided an overview of Pesco’s planned strategies for the success of the recovery campaign.He emphasized the need for a comprehensive, multifaceted approach that would tackle the issue of outstanding electricity bills effectively while ensuring the continuation of services to legitimate consumers.

The BoD chief discussed the challenges currently faced by Pesco in implementing recovery measures.The chief secretary proposed the formation of a high-level committee, composed of senior government officials, to oversee the implementation of the recovery campaign. The committee will monitor recovery progress on a daily basis.It was also decided that nine Tehsildars (revenue officers) would be assigned to support Pesco in the recovery campaign.
