ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has terminated the basic membership of singer Salman Ahmad for ‘consistently sowing division and discontent among the party members and supporters’.
A notification issued by PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan says, “Whereas you Salman Ahmad have consistently sought to sow division and discontent among the members and supporters of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf through unwarranted and scurrilous posts on social media, including the platform X through your handle @sufisal. Needless to add that you are aware of those posts including the posts against the family of Imran Khan, PTI Founder Chairman”. Barrister Gohar wrote in the notification that the party had dissociated itself from his conduct and statements and had warned him about the consequences of his conduct. “You had been consistently asked, inter alia, through press releases issued by the Core Committee of PTI to desist from posting those objectionable posts,” the notification reads.
“And whereas you continued to defy the instructions of the Founder Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf despite repeated warnings to the contrary,” it said. “Therefore, your basic membership is hereby terminated and you are expelled from the party with immediate effect. You are further asked never to show any affiliation with PTI,” it concludes.
