Sindh Senior Minister for Information and Transport Sharjeel Inam Memon on Thursday announced the establishment of a board to facilitate the production of films and dramas in the province.
Officials said the Sindh information department plans to support individuals involved in the film and drama industry by establishing the Films and Drama Production Board following its approval from the provincial cabinet.
The decision to establish the board was taken during a key meeting chaired by Memon. The meeting was attended by Information Secretary Nadeemur Rehman Memon, Advertisement Director Muhammad Yousuf Kaboro, Sarang Latif Chandio and other officials.
Addressing the meeting, Memon said the newly established board would facilitate film and drama production and also the people associated with the sector. He said it would play an important role in the promotion of cultural representation and creative talents by supporting the people associated with the film and drama industry.
He emphasised that the Sindh government was committed to highlighting the rich and diverse culture of the province and its heritage. He said the information department was taking concrete steps to promote new talent and positive thinking in Pakistan, especially Sindh. He added that in contributing to overcoming social evils and weakening their impact, one had to take the assistance of civil society, artistes and people from all walks of life. Memon said that considering the problems faced by the media industry, it was the need of the hour to provide support for its development.
