ABBOTTABAD: The Chief Executive Officer of Ayub Medical Teaching Institution (AMTI) and Dean of Ayub Medical College Abbottabad has alleged that Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur was provided inaccurate information about the vacant posts at the health facility during a meeting at the Hazara Commissioner’s Office recently.
In a letter to the commissioner, a copy available with The News, Dean of Ayub Medical College Professor Dr Saqib Malik, alleged that the chief minister provided inaccurate and misleading information about the vacant posts and that was disseminated to the media as well.
The meeting, held on December 13, 2024, at the Commissioner’s House in Abbottabad, was meant to discuss vacant posts at the AMTI.However, Dr Malik alleged that he was not allowed to attend the meeting despite being prepared to brief the chief minister on the matter. Instead, he was asked to wait, only to be summoned more than four hours later.
He attributed this incident to the negligence of staff at the Commissioner’s Office, which, he alleged, resulted in a missed opportunity to improve service delivery at the AMTI.The KP government had previously imposed a ban on new appointments, but this ban was lifted later. He said vacant posts at AMTI had already been advertised, with the remaining posts to be advertised soon.Dr Malik said this incident raised concerns about the transparency and accountability of government officials in KP.
