LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi visited Gaddafi Stadium on Thursday to inspect the ongoing construction and upgrade work ahead of the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025.

During his visit, Naqvi assessed the progress of renovations and directed contractors to expedite the upgradation efforts to ensure timely completion. He emphasised the importance of meeting project deadlines, given the significance of hosting the prestigious tournament.

This visit comes on the heels of the ICC’s confirmation of a hybrid hosting model for the Champions Trophy 2025. The tournament will see matches involving India being held at neutral venues, while Pakistan will host fixtures featuring Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, New Zealand, and South Africa.

Gaddafi Stadium, one of Pakistan’s iconic cricket venues, is undergoing extensive renovations to meet international standards. The upgrades aim to enhance facilities for players, officials, and spectators alike, ensuring a world-class experience during the Champions Trophy. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi underscored the critical role of infrastructure readiness in hosting an event of this magnitude.

“The Champions Trophy is an opportunity to showcase Pakistan’s passion for cricket on a global stage. Timely completion of these upgrades is essential to delivering a flawless tournament,” he stated.

An ICC delegation, currently in Pakistan, has been evaluating preparations at various venues, including the National Bank Stadium in Karachi. The delegation is set to visit Lahore as part of its assessment.
