ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) Wednesday night sealed some portions of a renowned five-star hotel over violation of the building bylaws, illegal construction and non-payment of dues.

The operation was conducted by the Building Control Section with the support of directorates concerned.

Sources in the CDA said an operation to seal some portions of the hotel was conducted for occupying the building without obtaining completion certificate, thus jeopardizing the structure and public lives.

The hotel management was also charged with unauthorised use of the basement for storage and HVAC purposes, etc. According to the CDA officials, there was illegal construction while an illegal marquee was also established. A greenbelt between the hotel building and Sector F-6 was also being used for car parking.

Sources said an amount of Rs160 million was also due against the property.

When the hotel duty manager was approached for confirmation, he admitted that operation had been undertaken. However, he was reluctant to give any details. “I have just assumed my night shift and do not have the details,” he said.

“This premises has been sealed on account of building violations,” said a notice pasted by the Directorate of Building Control at the entry to the premises.
