NIH says latest case was reported from Jacobabad taking total number of polio cases from district to four this year

ISLAMABAD: Poliovirus has crippled another child in Pakistan, bringing the total number of polio cases in Sindh to 18 and the nationwide tally to 64 this year.

The latest case was confirmed on Wednesday, December 18, from Jacobabad, marking the fourth such case from the district this year, according to the Regional Reference Laboratory for Polio Eradication at the National Institute of Health.

With this case, Sindh has reported 18 cases in 2024, while Balochistan leads with 26, followed by 18 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and one each in Punjab and Islamabad.
