PARACHINAR: The office-bearers of the Kurram Drug Association on Wednesday said that there was an acute shortage of medicines in the district and urged the government to take steps to supply essential drugs to the district.
Speaking at a press conference here, the association’s office-bearers, including district President Syed Hanif Hussain, Iftikhar Hussain, Nasir Hussain, and Moeen Hussain said that vaccines and life-saving medicines had run short in the region. They said that even basic supplies like paracetamol syrup and tablets were unavailable which had left residents without access to treatment.
The office-bearers criticized provincial authorities for failing to control the situation and accused them of misleading the public about the severity of the crisis.
They said that instead of providing malaria medication, helicopters should deliver essential life-saving drugs and vaccines.
They asked Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur to visit Parachinar to assess the plight of the affected people and take action to resolve their issues.
