ISLAMABAD: Ambassador of Iran, Dr Amiri Moghadam, met with the Federal Minister of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, Chaudhry Salik Husain on Wednesday, and discussed proposals aimed at addressing the growing religious intolerance worldwide, eliminating terrorism and sectarianism, establishing peace, and promoting interfaith harmony.
The meeting agreed to strengthen cooperation between Pakistan and Iran in eliminating extremism, promoting interfaith harmony and enhancing economic, trade, and cultural relations between the two countries.
Chaudhry Salik said that Muslim countries are facing challenges and conditions that necessitate the promotion of religious harmony, tolerance and unity, as there is an urgent need for dialogue between religions and cultures for global peace.
“The attitude of tolerance and respect is an essential part of Islamic teachings”, he said, adding that Pakistan and Iran should work together to promote religious harmony, peace, and tolerance in the world through interfaith and intercultural dialogue.
The Iranian ambassador Dr Reza Amiri Moghadam invited Federal Minister Chaudhry Salik Hussain to participate in the upcoming International Quran Conference to be held in Iran next month, mentioning that Pakistan and Iran face the threats of terrorism, and it is necessary to prepare a joint action plan to counter it.
