PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Wednesday extended the protective bail of Bushra Bibi, wife of former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan, until January 16, while granting her exemption from personal appearance in court.
The court also extended the protective bail of a PTI leader and MNA Sher Afzal Marwat until February 11. A two-member bench comprising Justice Sahibzada Asadullah and Justice Wiqar Ahmed heard the case. Bushra Bibi’s counsel, Alam Khan, Additional Attorney General Sanaullah, Special Deputy Prosecutor General of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Muhammad Ali and Additional Advocate General Inamullah appeared before the court.
During the proceedings, the petitioner’s counsel informed the court that Bushra Bibi could not appear in person due to her scheduled appearance in the Toshakhana II case in Islamabad on the same day. He requested an exemption from her appearance, which the court approved.
The additional attorney general told the bench that the court was hearing two cases today, adding that a report had been submitted in the first case. He added that the prosecution was ready to argue on the maintainability of the case.
