The public should get new security-featured smart cards and new number plates for all vehicles across Sindh by April 3, 2025, said Mukesh Kumar Chawla, provincial minister for excise, taxation and narcotics Control.
He ordered the issuance of new security-featured smart cards and new number plates for all vehicles across Sindh. On the instructions of Chawla, the Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department has issued two notifications advising the public to get new security-featured smart cards and number plates by April 3, 2025. No concession will be given after the proposed date.
According to the notification, the smart cards will help prevent fraud and tampering in the purchase and sale of vehicles. In another notification, the public has been informed that in future, the number plates of all private vehicles will be white in colour with a Sindhi Ajrak design, while the number plates of commercial vehicles will be yellow in colour with a Sindhi Ajrak design. After April 3, 2025, yellow number plates of all private vehicles and black number plates of commercial vehicles will be unacceptable.
The decision to change the number plates is a part of ongoing efforts to enhance security and standardize vehicle identification. All vehicle owners are directed to apply for and obtain the new security-featured number plates and smart cards at the earliest by approaching any Motor Registration Authority of the Excise Department to avoid any inconvenience.
