Pakistan Customs successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle 39,000 litres of Iranian diesel into the country via three launches in the Arabian Sea on Wednesday.
A spokesperson for Customs stated that the operation followed the government's stringent anti-smuggling policies and was part of the ongoing efforts by Customs Enforcement Karachi to combat illegal activities. Acting on secret information provided by Collector Customs Enforcement Karachi, Moeen Uddin Wani, a specialized team was formed under the leadership of Additional Collector Customs, Basit Hussain, and Assistant Collector, Shehzad Ali.
The team conducted three successful operations, intercepting the launches Al-Sadaf, Al-Rehman, and Al-Shiran, which were carrying the smuggled diesel. The total value of the seized diesel and launches was estimated at Rs 39 million. The confiscated diesel had been moved to the ASO warehouse, while the launches had been transferred to the NMB Wharf.
