The final list of successful candidates who sat the Medical and Dental College Admission Test 2024 (MDCAT) under IBA Sukkur on December 8 has been released, in which only 10 out of the top 100 candidates belong to Karachi.
The majority of the candidates who got A1 and A grades in the Intermediate examinations could not qualify for the MDCAT. Only 43.29 percent of the candidates could pass the test for MBBS, while the percentage of successful candidates for BDS admissions was 50.66.
A total of 32,200 candidates appeared in the test conducted by the IBA Sukkur. As many as 13,942 candidates were declared eligible for MBBS, while 16,314 candidates were declared eligible for BDS. Candidates from Ranipur, Badin, Khairpur and Tharparkar scored the highest 192 marks. According to the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), the cut-off score for the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) programmes is 55 percent, while the cut-off score for the Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) programme is 50 percent.
The MDCAT conducted under the Dow Medical University in September, which was declared null and void by the Sindh High Court due to a paper leak, had 22,366 candidates declared successful and the success rate was 58.79, while 38,041 candidates from all over Sindh took the test organised by the Dow University.
