PESHAWAR: People’s Lawyers Forum (PLF), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, president Gohar Rahman Khattak on Wednesday expressed reservations over the names forwarded by the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) for the appointment of judges in the Peshawar High Court.
In a statement, he said that some of the names proposed by the PPP for the high court judges’ slots did not belong to the PLF.He said that the slot of a judge was not an ordinary seat and that everyone should be nominated for it.
“Appointment to such positions requires experience, education, and expertise in a specific field of law, which are of utmost importance,” said the PLF leader.Khattak added that only those lawyers affiliated with the PLF and whose names had been sent by the central and provincial leadership of the forum would be supported for judgeship. He said that any other names proposed would be rejected by the PLF.
