LAHORE:Rich tributes were paid to cultural enthusiast Khalid Ghayas at a memorial meeting held at Alhamra on Wednesday. Khalid Ghayas, a connoisseur of the arts and a prominent figure in showbiz circles, recently passed away. The event was jointly organised by the Lahore Arts Council and Ajoka Theatre.
Speakers at the memorial—General Shami, Dr. Ghazala Irfan, Shahid Nadeem, Qasim Jaffery, Razi Ahmad, Zareen Panna, Zara Salman, Sohail Warraich, Dr. Waseem Anwar, and Mohsin Jaffar—highlighted Khalid Ghayas’s unwavering dedication to the performing arts and show business. Known for his profound knowledge of film and television, he played a pivotal role in the development of PTV’s sales department.
Ghayas was also a valued member of Ajoka’s Board of Advisers and served on the Film Censor Board for many years. His contributions to the industry were lauded by all present. In a heartfelt gesture, Lahore Arts Council Chairperson Razi Ahmad announced that a plaque in Khalid Ghayas’s honour will be placed in the front row of Alhamra Hall, ensuring his memory lives on.
