LAHORE:A French delegation, consisting of members from AIRPARIF and SYCTOM visited Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) on Wednesday.
As the Punjab government has intensified efforts to tackle smog and air pollution, the French mission will evaluate the functioning of various departments related to smog control and pollution reduction. The French delegation’s insights and recommendations are expected to assist the government in formulating long-term policies and projects under its environment-friendly framework.
LWMC spokesperson Umar Chaudhry stated that the delegation praised the urban forest and solar park projects at Mehmood Booti as commendable steps toward sustainable development. During a briefing at LWMC’s head office, attended by CEO Babar Sahib Din, Deputy CEO M Aurangzeb, and other officials, the French delegation was introduced to LWMC’s environmental initiatives. The mission will visit LWMC facilities, including the compost plant and the Lakhodair landfill site, to review cleaning operations and provide recommendations.
