LAHORE: The fifth-place playoff between Pakistan and Malaysia in the ACC U19 Women’s Asia Cup at the Bayuemas Oval was abandoned on Wednesday due to persistent rain.
After being asked to bat first, Pakistan posted 115 for six in their allotted 20 overs. The standout performance came from Areesha Ansari, who top-scored with an unbeaten 42 off 35 balls, hitting six boundaries.
Malaysia’s chase began on a shaky note, losing two wickets for just five runs in 3.2 overs before rain forced the match to a halt. Pakistan’s Mahnoor Zaib shone with the ball, claiming both wickets with impressive figures of 2 for 2.
The match ended in a no result, bringing Pakistan’s Asia Cup campaign to a disappointing end. The team failed to progress to the Super Four Stage after losing their group-stage matches against India and Nepal.
