RAWALPINDI: Hearing on the 190 million pounds reference was held in the Adiala Jail on Tuesday. Accountability Court Judge Nasir Javed Rana heard the reference. PTI founder Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi were present.
The prosecution team completed arguments. NAB lawyer Amjad Pervez said the deed was signed on November 6, 2019, while the first installment of money was deposited in the supreme court account on November 29, 2019. The approval of the deed was taken from the cabinet on December 3, 2019. The cabinet was not even informed that the first installment had reached Pakistan. Talks between the Asset Recovery Unit and the National Crime Agency had been going on since 2018. The deed had been sent to the NCA even before the cabinet approval. The cabinet approval was taken later to cover up the matter.
The money was transferred to the supreme court account instead of the federal government account. No law says that the deed signed between the National Crime Agency and the Asset Recovery Unit will not be made public. According to the NAB law, if a public office-holder takes any grant or donation, it will be the property of the government of Pakistan.
He said the PTI founder, as the prime minister, gave favours in return for which he received donations. Under the NAB Ordinance, if a matter is pending with a public office-holder, taking anything from that person is a bribe. As many as 240 kanals were transferred in the name of Farah Gogi. When the land was transferred in the name of Zulfi Bukhari, a trust did not even exist. The trust was then created after an adjustment of 190 million pounds. The Rules of Business 1973 were also violated. Any matter has to be circulated seven days before it is discussed in the cabinet. What was the hurry that this matter was not circulated to cabinet members seven days ago.
Today the final arguments will be started by Imran and Bushra’s lawyers. The hearing was adjourned till today.
