AQI continues to deteriorate in City

LAHORE:The AQI of the provincial metropolis continued to deteriorate as the highest level crossed 400 while the average was 261, which came in the category of very unhealthy here on Tuesday.

Data collected from IQAir revealed that the PM2.5 concentration was 37.2 times the WHO annual PM2.5 guideline value in the provincial capital. The most polluted localities included Chattha Park Shahdara (409), Hiking & Mountaineering Club GCU (378), Polo Ground Cantt (340), Ada Plot, Raiwind Road (338), Valencia Town (314), WWF-Pakistan (297) and CERP Office Gulberg (292).

Meanwhile, Met officials said continental air was prevailing over most parts of the country while a shallow westerly wave was affecting upper parts of the country. They predicted that mainly cold and dry weather was expected in most parts of the country while very cold and cloudy in hilly areas. However, light rain/light snowfall may occur at isolated places in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Shallow to moderate fog (in patches) was likely at few places in Northeast/South Punjab and Upper Sindh during morning hours. Tuesday’s minimum temperature was recorded at Leh where mercury dropped to -09°C while in Lahore it was 4°C and maximum was 20.5°C.
