The Karachi Water & Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) is working on repairing the 84-inch-diameter main water line on University Road, and the work is expected to be completed by Wednesday (today), according to KWSC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Engr Syed Salahuddin Ahmed.
The KWSC spokesperson said the repair work had commenced on Monday and is being carried out non-stop, 24 hours a day, adding that efforts are under way to complete the repairs by Wednesday evening, ensuring the restoration of the city’s water supply.
Water Trunk Main Chief Engineer Zafar Palijo is supervising the repair work, accompanied by Superintendent Engineer Tanveer Shaikh, Abdul Aziz, Siddique Tunio and other officials on the site.
To mitigate public inconvenience, the KWSC CEO has also launched an emergency general public service water tanker service to provide temporary water supply to the affected areas. The repair work, which entered its second phase on Monday morning, is expected to be completed by Wednesday evening.
