With the onset of winter, SNGPL issued a new gas schedule to meet the growing demand of consumers. However, I question whether every consumer is truly benefiting from this arrangement? As a local resident, I find that many households in my neighbourhood have installed gas compressors or electric devices. Despite the schedule indicating good pressure, these illegal devices allow some households to bypass the system, creating an unfair advantage. Such households seem satisfied with their actions and even encourage others to follow suit.
The use of gas compressors can lead to serious safety hazards, such as gas leaks, fires, and explosions. This illegal practice must be taken seriously by the relevant authorities. Immediate action is needed, whether through crackdowns or initiatives that make it easier to detect these offenders. Heavy fines are necessary, and these devices require a ban from the market. In addition, a public awareness campaign is crucial to inform citizens about the legal implications of such actions and the impact on legitimate users.
