LAHORE: US Ambassador to Pakistan, Donald Blome, reaffirmed America’s strong commitment to accelerating Pakistan’s economic growth, creating high-quality jobs, and opening new markets for American businesses, while promoting long-term stability and prosperity.
Ambassador Blome made these remarks during a recent interaction with members of the American Business Forum in Lahore, where he emphasised the positive and transformative impact of the US companies on local communities.
“US firms bring American values of openness, transparency, and community citizenship to the private sector in Pakistan,” Ambassador Blome stated. He further highlighted that American companies directly employ 120,000 Pakistanis and indirectly support the livelihoods of over a million more across the country.
Ambassador Blome, alongside US Consul General in Lahore, Kristin Hawkins, noted that American businesses are playing a pivotal role in driving economic growth, particularly in Punjab, one of the country’s most economically dynamic regions. They also met with Pakistani female entrepreneurs and representatives of organisations dedicated to empowering women in the business sector, reinforcing the US commitment to advancing women’s economic participation in Pakistan.
“By empowering local businesses, especially women entrepreneurs, US companies are not only contributing to Pakistan’s economic progress but also ensuring sustainable growth and prosperity for future generations,” Ambassador Blome concluded.
Through their continued investments and collaborations, US companies are helping Pakistan build a more resilient economy, open new avenues for trade, and create a more inclusive workforce. The US remains dedicated to fostering strong economic partnerships that benefit both nations and enhance global prosperity.
