The Sindh government on Monday announced a series of significant initiatives to support and empower women in the province, including the establishment of 115 day-care centers for working women.
During a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Sindh Syed Asif Hyder Shah and attended by Minister for Women Development Shahina Sher Ali and other senior officials, the Women Development Department presented detailed briefings on ongoing projects.
Key decisions were made to enhance facilities for women across Sindh. All Dar-ul-Amans (shelter homes) would be upgraded with modern amenities, including play areas and tutoring services for children residing in these homes.
To support working mothers, the government would establish 115 day-care centres in the first phase, focusing on government offices and universities to help women balance work and childcare. Minister Shahina Sher Ali highlighted that the Sindh government was committed to ensuring women's safety and expanding their employment opportunities.
She also revealed that eight development projects worth Rs954 million are underway under the Women Development Department, with efforts being made to accelerate their completion. The chief secretary expressed satisfaction with the progress of the department’s projects and emphasised the importance of timely implementation. He assured that funds would be allocated to support skilled women through the department’s initiatives. These efforts represent a significant move by the Sindh government to create a safer, more inclusive environment for women and encourage their active participation in society.
