IGP pays tribute to APS martyrs

LAHORE:Inspector General of Police (IGP), Punjab, Dr Usman Anwar paid tributes to the martyrs of the Army Public School (APS) Peshawar on the completion of 10 years.

He said we salute martyrs of the APS and their families for their courage and determination to bear this great loss. He said the APS tragedy united the Pakistani nation in the fight against terrorism, and the memory of the incident remains fresh in our hearts.

Security beefed up To ensure law and order in the provincial capital, Lahore Police has heightened security to the maximum level. Strict monitoring at key locations and field supervision by police officers are being carried out. DIG (Operations) Faisal Kamran stated that Lahore Police is fully capable of countering any potential threat and assuring the public to continue their daily activities without any fear.

Alert units have been deployed at the city’s entry and exit points, while additional personnel have been stationed to secure markets, places of worship, and public gatherings. Sensitive areas are being monitored through Safe City cameras.

Meanwhile, commemorating the martyrs of the Army Public School, the spokesperson for the PSCA said: "We have not forgotten the tragedy of APS on December 16, 2014." He said the wounds of APS tragedy are fresh to this day.

Meanwhile, DIG Operations Faisal Kamran Monday met with Christian community religious leaders at Police Lines Qila Gujjar Singh and briefed them on security arrangements for Christmas.

The DIG met Secretary Church of Pakistan Shehzad Gul, representatives of Sacred Heart Cathedral Church Danish, Reverend Dr Majid Abel, and Shamoon Cathedral Church representatives.
