Almost all women and girls in Afghanistan continue to face gender-based discrimination in every field, especially education. According to the UN, the Afghan Taliban have deliberately deprived around 1.4 million girls of their right to an education since taking power in 2021. It is baffling to try and understand the motives behind such actions.
Education is a basic human right, and peace, prosperity, and economic growth are unattainable without girls’ education. In light of this fact, the Afghan Taliban should lift their restrictions.
