ABBOTTABAD: Peshawar High Court Chief Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim on Monday said that over 2500 pending cases were disposed of by the Abbottabad circuit bench during the current year, reducing the pending cases to 70000 from 95000.
Addressing a function arranged by the High Court Bar Association, the CJ said that all the issues faced by the lawyers would be solved on a priority basis.He said that more judges would be given to the PHC Abbottabad bench when new judges were appointed in the high court.
He said that training workshops for young lawyers should be arranged to enhance their capacity. “We are clearing the cases quickly despite the lack of judges,” he said, adding that pending cases in Mansehra, Haripur and Battagram would be heard through video link.
Earlier, the CJ laid the foundation stone of the mosque on the high court premises. PHC bar president Sardar Aman in his welcome address said that a mosque was being built but no funds had been allocated by the government. He said the construction of the mosque was started with the cooperation of lawyers and judges, which would be completed soon.Judges of PHC Abbottabad Bench, lower judiciary and lawyers from Hazara division participated in large numbers.
