Islamabad:Dr. Akbar Niazi Teaching Hospital (ANTH) has introduced the Sehat Tahafuz Card, an affordable health insurance initiative aimed at providing accessible healthcare to Pakistanis across all financial backgrounds. This step addresses the growing issue of healthcare affordability in a country where over 60% of the population pays out of pocket for medical services, often foregoing necessary treatments, says a press release.
The card offers annual health coverage of up to PKR 750,000 for individuals at a nominal premium of PKR 12,000 per year, or PKR 1,000 per month. For an additional PKR 1,500 annually, life insurance coverage of PKR 500,000 is included, ensuring a comprehensive package. Families can opt for plans offering total coverage of up to PKR 2,200,000 annually, providing financial protection against medical emergencies and unforeseen life risks.
Available in three tiers-Basic, Classic, and Classic Plus-the card caters to individuals and families alike. It extends health and life insurance to cardholders, their spouses, and children, ensuring tailored coverage for diverse needs.
Launched in partnership with Askari General Insurance Company Limited (AGICO), the card guarantees reliable claims processing and high service quality. During the launch event, chief guest Zia Ullah Shah, Member Provincial Assembly of Punjab, hailed the initiative as a “revolutionary step” in bridging healthcare disparities.
Yasir Khan Niazi, CEO of GAK HealthCare International and ANTH, emphasized the hospital’s mission to make healthcare a right rather than a privilege. “The Sehat Tahafuz Card addresses financial barriers, ensuring no one is denied essential medical care due to cost constraints,” Niazi said.
ANTH’s efforts to alleviate pressure on public healthcare through medical camps and awareness initiatives have positioned it as a key player in improving healthcare delivery. Distinguished guests at the event, including business leaders and community representatives, praised ANTH’s role in making healthcare accessible to underserved populations.
With this initiative, ANTH reaffirms its commitment to transforming lives by reducing financial hurdles in accessing quality healthcare, setting a benchmark for private healthcare institutions in Pakistan.
