LAHORE:Medical teachers of Postgraduate Medical Institute (PGMI) have donated three laparoscopy machines to the Department of Surgery of Lahore General Hospital with their own expenses.
These machines will provide considerable help in the treatment and operation of patients and in saving time by providing practical training to young doctors, as well. Similarly, Laparoscopy procedure will provide relief from pain to patients suffering from cancer and obesity which will have positive effects on their health, too.
Principal Ameer Uddin Medical College Prof Dr Al-Fareed Zafar appreciated the spirit of humanitarian services of senior doctors and said that LGH doctors along with performing their official duties do not hesitate to spend from their own pockets to serve the suffering humanity which is commendable and a source of imitation for other philanthropists. He added that serving the suffering humanity is the first priority of doctors.
Prof Ghiyas-un-Nabi Tayyab said that along with the Government, philanthropists should also come forward to serve the suffering humanity. Prof Dr M Farooq Afzal said that with advanced surgical techniques, the patient does not need to stay in the hospital for a long time and also gets rid of antibiotic medicines. He said that young doctors should continue training in laparoscopic surgery so that they can operate on patients with modern technology in line with the requirements of the present era.
Medical Superintendent Dr Faryad Hussain thanked the senior doctors who donated the machines and said that LGH receives the highest number of trauma cases and laparoscopic surgery allows patients to return to their normal lives quickly. He said that these machines will benefit the patients significantly and further enhance the good name of LGH, in this regard.
