ISLAMABAD: Two days before the launch of civil disobedience drive, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan Saturday clarified that no conditions were set during the negotiations but demands were made.

Talking to the media at the District and Sessions Court here, he emphasized that no one had put conditions for talks and the party’s founder chairman Imran Khan many months back had formed a three-member committee for dialogue. “I personally understand and say that there should be a full stop to everything and the country should be taken forward. I have said this many times that negotiations should be held, at every stage and it should be comprehensive as well,” he maintained.

He continued that talks should be unconditional, as ‘enough is enough’. He contended that political issues should be settled permanently through political means, being imperative for the country.

The PTI chairman said that negotiations were held before that too, but contact was lost. Gohar pointed out that he had filed a request to be discharged from the May 9 case, as all the cases are fake and all those named would be acquitted.

He explained that his party had filed a criminal complaint against the prime minister and others. Referring to the recent PTI protest, he argued that no shots are fired during protests around the world. He claimed that protesters were not even sitting to protest when the shelling started.

Separately, PTI spokesperson Sheikh Waqas Akram said details of the civil disobedience movement would be brought before the public soon by the party leadership.

Talking to a private TV channel, he said the movement had not started yet and it would be in phases. He noted that details of the civil disobedience movement were to be brought to the public after the Martyrs’ Day gathering, but now the date has changed and the condolence prayer ceremony is being held today, December 15, instead of December 13.

However, he also clarified that no political decisions would be taken in the Martyrs’ Day prayer ceremony. He explained that efforts are being made to have a meeting of the leadership with the PTI founder in this regard after the Martyrs Day gathering.
