ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s founding leader and ex-information secretary Akbar S Babar on Saturday said the PTI founder chairman’s call for civil disobedience would be rejected by his own party workers, being loyal to the country.
In a video message shared on social media, the former close aide of Imran Khan slammed the call for such an extreme step on December 16, which is the darkest day in the history of Pakistan, as on this day in 1971, the country was divided into two parts.
“December 16 is the darkest day which has been erased recently by the Bengalis with their own hands,” he pointed out, referring to the events in the erstwhile East Pakistan.
He regretted that the PTI announced the start of another civil disobedience movement, keeping the memory of that day fresh, saying that just as history had not forgiven the Awami League, it would never forgive this party for its anti-national politics in the lust for power.
He wondered how the PTI could talk about rights, as rights were directly linked to obligations/duties. He said one might ask if PTI governments since 2013 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa fulfilled their obligations towards people and provided relief to them.
