LAHORE : Provincial Minister for Housing and Urban Development Bilal Yasin inaugurated the underground water tank project in Karim Park, Bilal Ganj on Saturday.
Wasa Vice Chairman Chaudhry Shahbaz Ahmad and Managing Director Ghufran Ahmad accompanied the minister during the inauguration. While briefing the minister, Ghufran Ahmad stated that the project, costing Rs600 million, will be completed within three months. Upon its completion, the facility will store 1.8 million gallons of rainwater, benefiting the residents of Bilal Ganj, Karim Park and surrounding areas.
The minister emphasised the timely and high-quality completion of the project, saying: “This initiative is a milestone in conserving rainwater and addressing water scarcity. All resources should be utilised to ensure the project is completed within the stipulated timeframe. Additionally, arrangements should be made to minimize inconvenience to local residents during the construction phase,” he added. The residents of the area appreciated the Punjab government’s efforts, calling the project a commendable step towards addressing water shortage and improving the infrastructure of their community. The Wasa team reiterated its commitment to daily monitoring of the project to maintain quality and ensure its completion on time.
